ProGalgo
Every year more than 50,000 Galgos are brutally beaten, or simply starve to death, or most brutally they are hanged. As the dog is hanged so that his hind feet still touch the ground, he then survives for hours or even days until slowly strangling himself. PRO-GALGO aims to raise awareness of the plight of Galgos, pressure the Spanish government into enforcing their welfare laws in regards to hunting dogs; and to rescue, rehabilitate and re-home these noble and gentle hounds.
Justin Kerswell
Justin Kerswell is Viva!'s
Campaigns Manager, heading
a busy team making sure that
animal and vegan related stories
hit the headlines and effect
change. He has been a vegetarian
since he was 15 and vegan for
the last 5 years - and has
never been healthier or happier!
Justin will talk about how you
can save even more animals going
vegan than just by simply being
a vegetarian. Also, how you can
protect the planet, people in
the developing world and yourself
by simply making a few changes
to your diet. Also, some practical
tips on how to make the change

Amanda Baker
Amanda
works as the Vegan Society's
Media Relations officer
and also runs their website, www.vegansociety.com -
which is packed with vegan
information. Amanda will
discuss the environmental
impact of the dairy industry.
Shockingly, human farming
of animals causes more
climate change than all our
cars, SUVs and planes combined.
Dairy cows have a higher
climate impact per animal
than other cattle, because
they are constantly lactating. Dairy
cheese has a particularly
large eco-footprint .
The Vegan Society is a small
membership charity promoting
vegan lifestyles for the
benefit of people, animals
and the planet.
Rob Jackson
Rob is the Education
Officer at the Vegan Society,
heading up their new programme
of school resources and
speakers. He'll
be talking about and demonstrating
the Vegan Society's Interactive
CD-ROM, giving an update
on the project and showing
how you can get involved. Rob's
been vegan for 9 years,
working on a Stockfree
farm for two seasons
before going back to
his home town of Birmingham
when the Vegan Society
relocated there.
