Vegan Environmental Awards

Vegan Environmental Awards 008

Organised by Yaoh

Sponsored by VeggieVision

Inspired by PeaPR

The Yaoh Vegan Environmental Awards 008 are in place for voting to start online Jan 8 th   2008, with 1 vote per person each month allowed until the lines close May 31 st 08 Midnite. The winners will be announced June 1 st 08 at the Bristol Vegan Fayre.

Following the successful launch of these awards in 2007, where we had seven categories with seven nominees in each - a total of 49 altogether - we have continued the theme for 2008 with eight categories with eight nominees in each - a total of 64 in all.

The purposes of the awards are to help highlight the achievements of these 64 vegan people, organisations, businesses and products, many of whom are relatively unknown to the public at large. They are also designed to reach out to a larger audience by involving colleagues, customers, friends and family, to help highlight the benefits of a vegan lifestyle to the environment and introduce a number of vegan options to people who may otherwise be unaware of the ease in which we can all access the best of the vegan lifestyle available today.

There are a number of reasons why the vegan lifestyle has such a positive effect on the environment, and there are a number of excellent campaigns running that highlight these issue. One of the most informative is Viva's Hot campaign - for more information on how the vegan lifestyle can help the environment, and how Livestock farming damages the environment,   please click here.

This year we welcome on board VeggieVision who are sponsoring the awards. VeggieVision is the worlds first online veggie TV station, and founder Karin Ridgers is a high profile UK vegan expert and driving force behind many media projects, you can see more about VeggieVision here. With the additional expertise of Tony Bishop Weston and PeaPR behind the awards, and a team effort from everyone involved, we hope to reach out to the 4 corners of the globe with this one, as the Vegan Lifestyle gathers pace around the world.

Every voter will be entered into a prize draw each month and the winner will receive a free vegan hamper worth £50. Remember, you can vote once a month up until May 31 st 2008, and you can vote for as many or as few nominees as you like.

The results will be announced at the Bristol Vegan Fayre on June 1 st 2008, and once again vegan superhero Wonderpig will be presenting the awards. You can see more about our beloved pink fluffy superhero Wonderpig here.
